ODM Leader Raila Odinga tests positive for COVID-19

ODM Leader Raila Odinga has been confirmed to be Covid-19 positive.

Consultant neurosurgeon David Oluoch-Olunya confirmed the case and said that Odinga is currently under medication and is responding well to treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.

The former Prime Minister said despite feeling strong and in good shape, he is under mandatory quarantine. His personal doctor said, “He is responding well to the treatment he is receiving at the Nairobi Hospital and remains upbeat.”

He also urged Kenyans to observe the set Covid Containment measures set by the government, noting that the virus is real.

In a statement, Odinga advised Kenyans to take precaution and observe all the guidelines put in place.

He wrote, “This evening, I received a briefing from the doctors who have conducted numerous and complicated tests on me for the last two days… While the tests were several, one important result, which I have authorized the doctors to make public is that I have been found to have been exposed to Covid-19.”

He added, “Despite the fact that I feel strong and in good shape after a few days in hospital, I have agreed with my doctors to undertake the mandatory quarantine.”

His elder brother Oburu Odinga had earlier rubbished claims of Odinga having contracted the virus, saying that he had not exhibited any symptoms.
