US to celebrate July 4th as coronavirus independence day

US president Joe Biden has stated that America can “mark independence” from the coronavirus. To this effect, he recommends that people get vaccinated so they can celebrate on 4th July.

Biden therefore urges the country to strive towards finding a degree of normalcy and begin to move on from the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking from the White House, Biden says meeting a goal of small family gatherings, “will make this Independence Day truly special. It would not only mark our independence as a nation, but mark our independence from this virus.”

As a result, his directive prioritizes people by age or health condition. He is therefore calling on states to make all adults eligible for vaccinations by 1 May.

As part of the plan to expand vaccinations, veterinarians and dentists have been added to the list of those who can administer the jab. Mobile units will facilitate vaccination in underserved communities.

Biden boasts of achieving his set target of 100m vaccinations by his 100th day in office. He however says success will come by the 60th day. Despite the good news, he warns that the “fight is far from over“. “This is not the time to let up,” he added.
