Kenya cannot be built by leaders seeking villagers attention: Ichungwah

Majority leader of the National assembly Kimani Ichungwah has hit at leaders propagating tribal politics saying Kenya’s eyes are set on the global podium alone.

Accusing the leaders of drawing back gains made by Ruto administration, in unifying the country and making Kenya a haven for internationals, Ichungwah says there are leaders who have reduced national leadership positions to village roles.

This, as he castigated as trivial talks centered on succession, noting that a nation cannot be formed by leader seeking villagers attention.

”Kenya is now playing at a global stage, we are globalizing our country. We cannot afford to dwell on village matters now. If there’s globalizing, then let us not villagize our country. President Ruto has placed this country on a global stage” Ichungwah lamented.

Ichungwah further quoted a saying that goes, ”You cannot build a kingdom from someone seeking the attention of the villagers.”

Ichungwa’s sentiments made before the plenary of National Assembly, come a day after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua told off critics of his call for the Mt Kenya region to unite saying it should not be equated  with tribalism.

Gachagua said his rallying call is aimed at uniting the entire Mt Kenya region comprising those who voted for the Opposition and those fully behind President William Ruto.

When we are calling for unity of this region, it is not against anybody. People are confusing our unity agenda with tribalism, they get it wrong. Far from it, people want unity of purpose so that we can effectively push for our fair share of the national cake relevance in the national political discourse. If we are not united, we will not be strong,” said Gachagua.

He further urged the other regions to unite so that they could address their local issues and also enhance the national unity.

The latest pronouncements by Ichungwah continues to paint the bickering picture in the Kenya Kwanza regime from leaders hailing from the mount Kenya region.
