Odinga Signals Possible Partnership with DP Gachagua for AU Commission Chair Bid

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has hinted at a potential collaboration with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua despite their differing political paths.

Speaking during the presentation of Limuru 3 resolutions at Chungwa House, Odinga clarified that his close relationship with the Deputy President is primarily driven by his quest for the African Union Commission Chairperson position.

He emphasized that his pursuit of this top AU role had already garnered government approval, making it necessary to include Gachagua in his plans.

“Gachagua is a member of this government and as you know, the government pledged to support my bid for AU and I thank them,” Odinga stated.

“He has seen the light and he is a Saul who has now become a Paul,” Odinga added.

The Azimio leader also announced his support for the “one man one vote one shilling” revenue sharing formula.

Raila emphasized that this formula would ensure a fair distribution of resources in Kenya.

“It’s logical for equity of resources. I already supported the proposal on the defunct BBI. We need equity, not equality. That’s why in BBI we talked for one man, one vote, and one shilling,” Odinga stated.

At the same time, Raila lauded the organizers of the Limuru III conference saying similar discussions should be held across the nation.
