Ruto launches community health promoters kits

President William Ruto has launched the Community Health Promoters Kits to aid in offering preventive and promote health care expected to inform positive outcomes.

Speaking from Uhuru Park, President Ruto has said the community health promoters equipped with the kits will act as the liaison between the hospitals and the community in the country.

This as president Ruto adds that the launch will see preventive health care imminent and reduce the burden of servicing curative care

The Kits cost the government over 3.5 billion shillings and will be distributed to over 100,000 health promoters.

The president has also assured the promoters of timely disbursement of their emoluments which will be co-shared between the govt and the county govt

“I want to assure from next month when we launch this program, your stipend will come on time, and we will make sure that it is paid digitally,” Ruto said. 

“Naambiwa saa ingine inachelewa. Sasa mimi nataka niwahakikishie kwamba haitachelewa tena. Tutapanga vizuri. Huyu Sakaja ndo atakuja kutangaza.”

The health cabinet secretary Susan Nakhumicha has said for Universal health Coverage to be achieved , there is a need to have a decentralized system of health care delivery in all the 47 counties.

CS Nakhumicha said the launched Kits will effectively aid in delivery of healthcare services from  each Community health Promoter  manning 10 households in the country who will be working in tandem with health facilities.

“The county governments did the name of the CHP and the identification so we are happy that we are going to be launching on October 20,” the CS said at a past event.

Also present at the event was the chairperson of the council of governors Anne Waiguru, whom together with the national government her office is expected to foot the bills of the CHPs on fifty fifty basis.

Governor Waiguru has aversed that the county government will work coherently to assure the success of the programme

“The Community Health Promoters program will be a driving force behind healthier communities, and their work will undoubtedly reduce the burden on our healthcare system by preventing diseases, promoting healthier lifestyles and providing vital health support to those in need,” the governor noted.
