KRA deploys 1400 Revenue Service Assistants to collecting taxes

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is deploying 1,400 Revenue Service Assistants to help with iTax and the registration of trading businesses that are yet to be registered by the authority.

They will be tasked with helping clients update their iTax profiles as well as verify location, contact information, among others.

The taxman says that the move is part of its reforms to offer services to taxpayers across the country, besides enhancing productivity and culture.

“The Field Officers are part of KRA’s reforms initiative aimed at enhancing productivity and culture, in order to deliver quality and friendlier services to taxpayers,” KRA said in a notice.

“The Field Officers have been equipped with knowledge and skills to handle tax related processes through a capacity building program comprising KRA core values and tax-modules.”

Its rollout comes at a time when KRA has been tasked with raising Sh2.8 trillion in the 2023–24 financial year to help fund President William Ruto’s agendas under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
