48 percent of Kenyans believe President William Ruto won the August 2022 Presidential election.

This is according to a survey conducted by TIFA Research.

“William Ruto in fact, received the most votes compared to Raila Odinga (48% vs. 37%),” the poll shows.

However, the research findings showed that 37% of Kenyans felt Ruto did now win the elections despite being declared the victor.

Among those who voted for him, 12% believe that he did not win the election while 71% of those who voted for Raila hold the same opinion.

15% of Kenyans however in the poll conducted, maintain that they are not sure of the winner of the August polls.

Data for the poll was collected after the research firm conducted face-to-face interviews at the household level.

The interviews were conducted in 9 regions;  Central Rift, Coast, Lower Eastern, Mt Kenya, Nairobi, Northern, Nyanza, South Rift, and Western.

The interviews were conducted in Swahili and English.

The former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati announced that Ruto scooped 7,176,141 votes representing 50.49% of the tallied votes to be declared the victor.

Odinga came in second with 6,942,930 votes representing 48% of the total votes tallied.

The former premier challenged Ruto’s win at the Supreme Court, however the Court judges dismissed the consolidated presidential election results petition.
