Quit Attacking Our Verdict; Supreme Court Warns

The supreme court has warned members of the public, prominent personalities and politicians against viciously attacking the verdict rendered on the August 9th presidential petition.

In a statement, the apex court has notified the public to remain patient until the lapse of 21 days, when they will render a comprehensive judgment of Odinga’s election petition.

“There is a legal provision of 21 days following the reading of the short version of the judgment to do so. Kenyans are therefore requested to exercise patience as they await the full judgment which will shed light and provide clarity on the grounds and rationale of the Court,” it said.

The supreme has further clarified its unilaterality in the verdict rendered on the 5th of September, urging the public to desist from pointing fingers to an individual judge.

“There has been an unfortunate trend of isolating individual judges and attributing the judgment to them. The Court has seven judges who are independent and highly respectful of each other as equals. A ‘UNANIMOUS’ judgment is a collective decision made by the Court and not by an individual,” it said.

The statement later addressed the resignation of two of its judges noting that the rumored information is false.

On Sunday , Siaya County Governor James Orengo, who was also lead lawyer on Odinga’s Petition called the seven Judges shameful saying the verdict was meant to oppress the petitioners.
