The Ethics and anti-corruption commission Chief Executive Officer Twalib Mbarak says the commission is still investigating  the fake degree certificates scandals among different political candidates.

While speaking  at a joint consultative forum with Religious Leaders from all faiths in the country on Monday,  Mbarak added that the commission will not back down despite complaints by those involved.

“This is where we have reached in this country, we have crooks who are now aggressive fighting the system. You have fake academic papers, and you have the guts to call the CEO of EACC, wewe unanimaliza. (You want to finish me).I have been called,” Mbarak said.

The EACC CEO castigated the move by politicians to intimidate independent institutions with the quest of circumventing the law which he pointed out has led to the weakening of state institutions.

“Here in this country, we have people with fake papers, and they have the guts to come and abuse the institutions, chest thumping saying they have degrees. How can you have a degree when you don’t know your classmates?” Mbarak posed.

Twalib Mbarak has further called on the clergy to be on the forefront in addressing issues of concerns that pertains to the forthcoming general election.

Even as controversy continues to surround, the authenticity of Sakaja degree issue, the Nairobi gubernatorial contender has blamed his woes on ‘deep state’ including President Uhuru Kenyatta whom Sakaja says is out to frustrate his bid.

However, Sakaja has since maintained that he will be on the ballot for the gubernatorial race come August despite the controversy on his degree qualifications

The church event at KSMS was attended by Archbishops Eliud Wabukala, Jackson Ole Sapit, Rev. Philip Anyolo and  Hassan Ole Naado of the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims, SUPKEM
