Kimilili MP in trouble for branding CDF vehicle for campaign

A search is on for Kimili Member of parliament Didmus Barasa after he branded one of the CDF double cabin vehicles with UDA campaign colors and logo.

Police say the car was impounded early today with regular number plates instead of its original GK plates.

Kimilili sub-county police boss Mwita Maroa said that the vehicle was impounded in the homestead of the MP at Nasianda village.

The MP has yet issued a statement following the incident, and could not be reached on phone when they did not find him at his Kimilili home.

In his defence, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa played cagey with reports claiming that police officers raided his home and confiscated a campaign vehicle branded with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) colours.

The lawmaker, said that he was not aware of the raid as he was on the away from his homestead.

He was yet to receive any communication from the alleged raid but confirmed that he used a Constituency Development Fund (CDF) vehicle in his capacity as a government official.

Barasa added that he owns several cars including those gifted to him by his friends for the campaign period.
