Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa is set to appear in court on February 1, 2022.
However, this is a counter rule from High Court Judge Anne Ong’injo. Upon receiving a stamped medical documentation, she certified Jumwa to be on bed rest.
Nevertheless, The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji, previously denied an adjournment request for Aisha Jumwa’s appearance in court.
According to Haji, failing to appear in court was an arrogant move.
Jumwa is accused of murder and assault alongside her aide Geoffrey Okuto Otieno over the killing of a man and injury of several other people during the Ganda Ward by-election in 2019.
Additionally, Jumwa is accused of 3 offenses including forgery, fraud in procurement and money laundering.
Nonetheless, this is not the first time the murder case, is being adjourned. In July 2021, the court postponed the case after Jumwa withdrew all four lawyers representing her and Okuto.
