Makadara MP George Aladwa shelves his ambitions to support Tim Wanyonyi for Nairobi governor seat.

Grassroot leaders from Makadara constituency have thrown their weight behind Nairobi governor aspirant Tim Wanyonyi.

Speaking at Tim Wanyonyi’s  campaign  center, the leaders led by Vincent Shimoli said they have held talks with Makadara MP George Aladwa and agreed to support the current Westlands MP.

Shimoli revealed that they have asked the ODM party to issue the ticket to Wanyonyi but added that they are also ready to go through nomination by ballot and support the Westlands MP.  

Bishop Hudson Ndeda dismissed the efforts by businessman Richard Ngatia to have the ODM party surrender the ticket to him.

The leaders said Ngatia is not an ODM member and cannot contest with Tim in ODM nominations. 

Ngatia is eying the Nairobi governor seat through the Azimio la Umoja movement which is yet to be made official at the registrar of political parties.

Tim Wanyonyi is now the only ODM member who has declared interest for the seat.

Aladwa who is the Nairobi ODM chairperson had earlier indicated interest in the Nairobi governor seat but the latest developments from from the grassroot leaders in Makadara sees Tim Wanyonyi enjoying full support from ODM party members.

Tim who has won the Westlands seat twice has been one of the outstanding Member of parliament championing education matters through bursaries and women projects in the cosmopolitan constituency.

Other aspirants who have declared interest to replace Anne Kananu include Bishop Margaret Wanjiru and Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja.
