Migori Senator Ochilo Ayacko has been elected as Chairperson of the Senate County Public Accounts and Investments Committee.
He takes over from Kissi Senator Sam Ongeri whose term expired last December.
He will be deputised by Marsabit Senator Hargura Godana.
The committee oversees the expenditure of billions of shillings of taxpayers’ money, given to 47 county governments under the Division of Revenue and other conditional grants.
Their role is equivalent to Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and the Public Investment Committee (PIC) of the National Assembly tasked with scrutinizing national government expenditure.
Members of the Committee include Imana Malachy, Njeru Ndwiga, Christopher Lang’at and Mercy Chebeni among others.
