Feb, 25th 2021 – The ODM party has extended the deadline for the 2022 presidential candidate applications, from February 26th to March 31st.
In a statement, ODM National Elections Board chairperson Catherine Mumma said, “Further to the notice of the National Elections Board (NEB) of 21st January 2021 calling for the submission of applications by individuals interested in consideration as the ODM Party presidential candidate for the 2022 general elections, this is to extend the deadline for the submission of applications from 26th of February 2021 to 31st March 2021.”
Mumma added that all interested candidates are requested to submit their applications before the 31st of March. She said, “All interested interest candidates are required to submit their application in the prescribed manner.”
The party says the application forms can be sourced at the party headquarters at Chungwa House, in Lavington, Nairobi or download from the party’s website.
The party also adds that interested aspirants should be Kenyan citizens by birth, a registered voter, a life member of the party have a high moral stand and integrity and have a degree from a recognized university.
The party also added that, “have demonstrable commitment and participation to the Party’s activities and agenda; meet the minimum requirements for Presidential Candidates as set out by the IEBC.”
So far Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and his kakamega counterpart Wycliffe Oparanya have expressed interest in the ticket. Joho and Oparanya are both serving their final term as governors.
Meanwhile, the National Organizing Secretary for Chama Cha Mashinani Meitamei Olol Dapash resigned from the party to run for the Narok County Senatorial seat under ODM.
