25th Feb 2021 – Campaigns have intensified ahead of the 4th March Matungu and Kabuchai by elections.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has opted to hold small village meetings and door to door campaigns, while their opponents hold bigger rallies.

UDA says the strategy will be able to win the two by elections.

Mumias East Benjamin Washiali who is also leading the UDA campaign team in Matungu says the system targets to reach out to as many people as possible.

The system that we have devised is for smaller rallies and a number of us have been split in different groups,” said Washiali.

Alex Lanya is running for the Matungu seat under UDA, following the death of the late Matungu MP Justus Murunga in December last year.

Mutua dismisses claims

In Machakos Senate seat campaigns , Governor Alfred Mutua dismissed claims that he is considering dropping his Maendeleo Chap Chap candidate from the race in support of the UDA aspirant.

Speaking in Machakos after photos of him and some UDA campaigners went round on social media, Mr. Mutua said the claims were unfortunate and insulting to his party.
