11 names have been submitted to President William Ruto for appointment as Chairperson and commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as the long awaited recruitment in the polls body enters its homestretch.
The IEBC selection panel chaired by Dr Nelson Makanda submitted the names to the President this morning at state house Nairobi, ten days after concluding its month-long interviews on April 25th.
The 11 names consist of 2 persons for the chairperson seat where the head of state Ruto will be expected to appoint one and will be subjected to parliamentary approval and 9 commissioners of which six names will be forwarded to parliament for a series of marathon vetting to fill the commissioners posts.
All eyes are now on the house on the hill on who and when the names shall be submitted to parliament amid a call to finalise the long awaited process of hiring the new commissioners after close to two years since the exit of the last team chaired by the Late Wafula Chebukati
