Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier has pledged to prioritize the construction of a modern stadium for Gor Mahia FC, Kenya’s most decorated football club and 21-time Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions.
Speaking during the unveiling of Eliud Owalo as the club’s deputy patron, Rachier outlined a bold infrastructure plan anchored on the immediate acquisition of land for a state-of-the-art stadium.
“We are in talks with the Machakos Governor, Wavinya Ndeti, because our aim is to locate just before Machakos town,” Rachier revealed.
“We are not only fixed on Machakos; we want a cost-effective location outside Nairobi that will be favorable to our fans,” he added.
Rachier emphasized that the stadium project would not only provide Gor Mahia with a permanent home ground but also serve as a symbol of the club’s legacy and ambition.
At the same event, Eliud Owalo, the newly appointed deputy patron, echoed Rachier’s sentiments.
“We will buy the land, bring in consultants to do the design, get a contractor, and focus on building our own stadium as a club,” Owalo stated.
“We want a situation where the club is professionally managed, with strong leadership demonstrated by the Chair and Vice Chair,” he added.
The proposed facility is expected to include training grounds, administrative offices, and commercial spaces—creating a sustainable ecosystem to support the club’s long-term growth and self-reliance.
