President William Ruto has reshuffled his Principal Secretaries, reassigning six roles and nominating 14 new individuals, including those allied to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
In a statement issued by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed on Thursday, Amos Gathecha was promoted to Deputy Head of Public Services, while ICT PS Prof. Edwin Kisiang’ani was appointed as a senior advisor and member of the president’s Council of Economic Advisors.
Among the 14 new nominees are Jane Kare Imbunya (Public Services and Human Capital Development), Regina Akoth Ombam (Trade), Cyrell Wagunda Odede (Public Investment and Asset Management), Caroline Wanjiru Karugu (East African Community Affairs), Oluga Fredrick Ouma (Medical Services), and Ahmed Abdisalan Ibrahim (National Government Coordination).
Other nominees include Judith Pareno (Justice, Human Rights, and Constitutional Affairs), Bonface Makokha (Economic Planning), Prof. Abdulrazak Shaukat (Science, Research, and Innovation), Stephen Isaboke (Broadcast and Telecommunication), Michael Lenasalon (Devolution), Fikirini Katoi Kajindi (Youth Affairs), Carren Ageng’o Achieng (Children Welfare Services), and Aden Abdi Millah (Shipping and Maritime Affairs).
As part of the changes, Prof. Julius Bitok was moved from Immigration to Basic Education, replacing Belio Kipsang, who now takes over Immigration and Citizen Services. Teresia Mbaika was reassigned to Aviation and Aerospace Development, while Ishmael Madey moved to Special Programmes.
Additionally, Harry Kimtai was transferred from Medical Services to Mining, Elijah Mwangi took over the State Department for Sports, and Peter Tum was dropped.
The reshuffle is aimed at improving service delivery and aligning government roles with emerging economic sectors.
