Isaac Mutuma Methengia has been sworn in as the new Governor of Meru county promising numerous reforms and overturning a litany of programs set by impeached and former Kawira Mwangaza
Speaking after taking oath of office as the fourth governor of Meru county at the Mwendatu grounds in Meru town Mutuma has pledged to unite the county and restore the dignity of the Meru people.
Mutuma has also committed to what he terms as servant leadership, a close working relationship with the national government in delivering services to all residents of Meru county.
“I declare today the political grandstanding has come to an instant end. I commit to working with each one of you. I will operate an open door policy where each one of you is welcome,” he said.
Governor Mutunga has also made new executive orders in Meru county including the reinstatement of rangers from the northern grazing zone in Tigania West
He also urged Kenyans living abroad who are from the region to come back home and help develop the county.
All leaders from Meru County, the professionals and those in diaspora, please come home, lets tell them to back home,” he added
Earlier, a petitioner had moved to court to dispute Meru’s new Governor swearing-in terming it illegal.
Mutuma, who was Kawira Mwangaza’s deputy, becomes Meru’s fourth county boss.
Mutuma is now expected to nominate his deputy whom shall be vetted by the meru county assembly for appointment
