President William Ruto has issued a stern warning to politicians engaging in ethnic politics and promoting disunity.
Speaking during a roadside rally in Kisumu on Monday, Ruto emphasized that his administration will not hesitate to take action against leaders seeking to divide the nation.
He reiterated his commitment to fostering unity among Kenyans and ensuring that divisive politics have no place in the country’s governance.
“I said that we will unite Kenya to become one. Those spreading ethnicity, hate and disunity will go home,” Ruto noted.
President William Ruto’s calls to discourage ethnicity come in the wake of his fallout with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was impeached on multiple grounds, including promoting tribalism.
Gachagua faced accusations of inciting the Mt. Kenya region against other parts of the country and allegedly favoring individuals from the region in the allocation of national government services.
Following his impeachment, Gachagua was replaced by Kithure Kindiki, as Ruto reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering unity and eradicating divisive politics.
