Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has hinted at the return of former Agriculture and Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi as he hailed his performance as beyond expectations when he led the docket.
The DP insisted that he worked with Linturi alongside President William Ruto and can attest to his work and urged him to remain optimistic for a worthy opportunity because he was not fired over incompetence.
Gachagua says the ex CS was not fired over incompetence.
“Linturi is our great son and I want to say that as Deputy President, Linturi performed beyond expectations. He just got caught up in this reorganisation because of the political dynamics of the country, not because he failed to perform,” Gachagua said.
“I worked with him and the President, and Linturi our son worked as he was expected to.”
The DP spoke at the Centennial celebration of the Methodist Church in Kenya, at Mikumbune.
Gachagua statement came in the back of a comeback of Economic adviser Mosses Kuria following his unceremonious ouster that was charged by the Gen Z protests over corruption, unaccountability and lack of good governance.
Linturi was among at least 11 CS who were dismissed from Ruto’s first Cabinet on July 11, 2024, when he announced the dismissal of his entire Cabinet.
Linturi’s tenure was marred with a mix of fortunes.
