Case on advise to President to dissolve Parliament to be mentioned 24th Sept

A five judge bench of the high court has set 24th of September as the date it  will mention a case  in which a petition was filed against an advisory opinion to dissolve Parliament 

The Supreme Court of Kenya had in September 2021 advised the then President Uhuru Kenyatta to dissolve Parliament for failing to enact legislation aimed at implement the two thirds gender rule.

The advisory stemmed from 6 petitions that were filed at the apex court seeking to find out how Parliament could be dissolved over the disregard of gender representation in the house of representation.

But the advisory was contested by consolidated petitions, prompting the formation of the five judge bench on July 2024

The bench presided over Jairus Ngaah also consists of Lawrence Mugambi, Tabitha Ouma Wanyama, Patricia Nyaundi and Moses Otieno.

The matter being decided however stemming from the highest court of land is a keen to watch as how they lower court will rule over it.

Parliament has been on the receiving for failing to honor the stipulated the number of female leaders expected in the house despite a steady increment in the allocation of the National Government Affirmative action fund after every financial year.
