The appropriations committee is set to close the collection of memoranda for the attorney general and the cabinet secretary nominees for ASAL today ahead of their vetting tomorrow.
Dorcas Oduor and Beatrice Askul will face the appropriation committee to defend their suitability to the positions even as the first 19 CSs have this morning taken oath of office from state house nairobi.
The two were nominated by president William Ruto in a gazette notice published by the head of public service Felix Koskei on the 1st of August
The 19 newly sworn CSs including new entrants Mining Hassan Joho, Treasury’s John Mbadi, his Energy counterpart Opiyo Wandayi and Wycliff Opranya appointed to the Cooperatives dockets have vowed to defend the constitution in service to Kenyans even as Interior and National administration boss Professor Kithure Kindiki pledged better reforms as he returns to Harambee house
Presiding over the swearing in from state house Nairobi, President Ruto mounted defense on his formation of the broad based government adding that the new cabinet will continue to build on what the Kenya kwanzaa administration has achieved in the past two years.
“The formation of this broad-based government that brings together former political rivals into one selfless patriotic team, will unlock the potential of our country that has long been denied us by factional and sectarian competition.
“While competition is good, there is a moment when the interest of the nation is greater than the interest of a political formation. It is the reason I have reached out across the aisle to bring onboard the knowledge, expertise and experience of deserving Kenyans though belonging to a different political formation,” Ruto said.
President William Ruto also raised concern over poor communication and insufficient public engagement in his government saying it cost Kenya a good transformational plan.
The Head of State further acknowledged that the nation has emerged from a period of immense struggle caused by a fundamental misunderstanding.
“This is about the ways and means of accomplishing what we all agree, are our shared aspirations as a people: a governance that delivers security and prosperity, inclusively and sustainably,” he said.
Ruto noted that inadequate communication and public engagement have led to a disconnect between some Kenyans and the government’s programs, policies, and projects.
He also instructed his new Cabinet to focus solely on serving Kenyans and advancing national programs this as he pleaded with kenyans to give the new cabinet a chance to discharge their mandate.
“I urge you, therefore, to go forth and from this day, focus on delivery, and dedicate your time and effort to the implementation of the various strategies, programmes, and projects that the nation’s transformation demands.
“I encourage you to make the people of Kenya your first and only priority and to never let your own interests come in the way of your duties,” the President said.
