Ruto says there are no dark days ahead for Kenya

President William Ruto and a section of his cabinet have criticized Deputy Rigathi Gachagua sentiments that there’s an apparent plot of spurring divisive and ethnic politics in the Kenya Kwanza govt.

President Ruto maintains that he is confident the country will not plunge into tribal politics, turning down his deputy’ sentiments as hapless.

Speaking when he  attended a church service in Bungoma county, Ruto instead urged the elected leaders to embrace unity.

“We will never go back to the politics of ethnicity, we will never go back to politics of personalities. We will never go back to politics where people are not in the centre,” he said remarks delivered outside his prepared speech.

DP Gachagua had on Friday predicted plans by a section of leaders in the govt of spur tribal politics as he campaigned for a unified mount Kenya region that has since the succession of the Kenya Kwanza administration faced dissension from both the opposition and ruling leader.

This as Ruto asked Members of Parliament to continue traversing the country on legislative and oversight responsibilities as part of their efforts to promote national unity.

“I am happy that many leaders from different parts of the country are here today. This is part of our unity efforts,” said President Ruto.

“By getting out of your constituencies, you will be able to exchange ideas and understand better your legislative and oversight roles. By doing this, we will build a united and prosperous nation,” he added.

Entering the fray, Prime Cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi and interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki cautioned politicians against ethnic mobilization, reiterating President William Ruto’s unity message during Saturday’s Madaraka Day celebrations.

This as their defense counterpart Aden Duale also turned down the proposed shareable revenue formula, calling for fair and equal distribution of county funds across the nation

“The mobilisation and incitement of ethnic communities against each other is a barbaric, cruel and dangerous political misadventure that poses grave danger to our Country’s future,” Kindiki said.
