Theuri faults Judiciary for not consulting LSK in rolling out services in Huduma Centres

The Law Society of Kenya says it ought to have been consulted first by the judiciary before  availing some Judiciary services at Huduma center.

LSK President Theuri has stated that the initiative should be halted to allow for stakeholders’ consultation.

According to the lawmakers the initiative is susceptible to abuse by masqueraders and increased avenues for unethical practices

Earlier this week Huduma Centre announced that some eight services would be accessed in their centers in various regions including filing a new civil case, filing documents in an existing case and requesting for and issuance of summons.

”From January 29, 2024, you can access the following services in six Huduma Centres. They include GPO Nairobi, City Square, Makadara, Kibra, Eastleigh and Thika,” the notice reads.

On her part LSK Vice President Faith Odhiambo noted that they lack stakeholder input and consultation on the same.

Other services to be offered at the centres are request and issuance of mentioned dates, general case inquiries, E- filing support,  payment of fines and deposits and virtual court support.
