Over 9000 KCPE candidates to sit special exams in January 2024

Over 9000 students who did not write this year’s and final KCPE papers have been offered another chance to sit their exams in January next year.

Speaking during the release of the last examination results at Mtihani house, Education cabinet secretary Ezekiel Machogu has noted that the ministry is cognisant that failure to sit the exams the student will not join form one next year.

He further noted that over 200 candidates took advantage of the registration waiver and were able to sit this years exams bringing the total candidature to 1.4 million

“To ensure that no candidate misses out in joining Form One from the final 2023 KCPE examination cohort, the Ministry of Education will conduct through mapping of any of those who may have failed to sit their examination this year in order to administer a Special Exam in January 2024,” said the CS.

CS Machogu has acknowledged strides made by ten counties to ensure gender parity is attained and recorded higher number of girls who sat the exams than boys

Over eight thousand students have attained above 400 marks with the highest garnering 428 marks.

This is a significant drop from last year where 9,500 students got above 400 marks

Meanwhile, CS Machogu has stated that the enforcement by police agencies tightened any lose nuts that would allow cheating which saw only two student caught
