Senators Want Moses Kuria Fired Over  Disparaging Remarks On Mwangaza’s Impeachment

Senators have vowed to take stern action against Public Service Cabinet Secretary  Moses Kuria following his comments on the ongoing impeachment motion against Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

On Tuesday, Kuria made several posts on his X account, claiming that the motion against Mwangaza did not hold enough evidence to warrant impeachment.

Kuria accused 13 Senators of being misled through evidence presented in the motion.

“I have studied carefully the issues presented against Governor Kawira. The most serious offense is that she does what Kikuyus call Kuangalia watu manyiira. That offense can take you to hell but not to jail. Certainly not a ground for Impeachment,” he stated.

Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruyoit castigated CS Kuria calling for his sacking saying his conduct has been an embarrassment to the appointment authority.

“That tweet was in bad taste. It paints senators as two people who have no cognitive abilities to interpret the matters that are before us and make a sober decision,” Cheruyoit stated.

On his part Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna said Kuria was an embarrassment to President William Ruto and a national shame.

“This is something that I have said in many stages, that in fact, CS Moses Kuria is an incorrigible national shame. One of the things that I ask myself is just how much embarrassment the President has the capacity to endure?” Sifuna posed.

Homabay Senator Moses Kajwang implored the leadership of the House to commence the proceeding of censuring the Cabinet Secretary in the National Assembly which has the mandate to undertake the process.

“I will speak I want to urge the members of the other house because they’re the ones who have the responsibility of censoring and sending home cabinet secretaries to take serious judicial notice of the conduct of this particular cabinet secretary and this house through the relevant committee can come up with resolutions that can then be used to move the other house to discuss his conduct and to have intention,” Kajwang noted.

Moses Kuria has remained in solidarity with embattled Meru  governor Kawira Mwangaza whose fate will be determined today following her second impeachment hearing over seven counts against the Meru County assembly
