Meru residents have taken to the streets in solidarity with Governor Kawira Mwangaza over her ongoing impeachment probe at the Senate.
The residents have accused former Meru leaders of being the masterminds behind Mwangaza’s impeachment push by MCAs.
The residents claimed that the charges leveled against the Governor are trumped up and orchestrated by politicians harboring the fear that Mwangaza might win the 2027 Gubernatorial election.
The residents have reaffirmed that the governor deserves to be given time to work.
They now want the Senate to deliver a favorable ruling on Mwangaza with the house set to determine her fate in due course.
The residents also want President Ruto to intervene and help the Governor whom they claim is being sabotaged by powerful politicians from Meru.
Governor Mwangaza was impeached by Members of the Meru county assembly on October 25.
Mwangaza is set to face Senate plenary in an impeachment trial after senators voted against the motion moved by Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina to form the committee to investigate the impeachment allegations against the governor in a heated afternoon session on Tuesday.
