The East Africa Portland Cement has issued a notice to sell part of its land in Mavoko Athi River amid ongoing demolitions.
In the notice this morning, the Portland Cement has said those who are currently occupying the parcel of land will be given priority in the said purchase.
This as demolition of houses of those occupying the land enters day 5, days after the govt listed the parastatal for privatization.
“Those in this kind of situation are advised to state their claim of the same within 14 days from the date of this notice,” read the statement in part.
At the expiration of the 14 days, all unclaimed portions shall be offered to the general public on a willing buyer willing seller basis.
Meanwhile, a site office has been established, as has another within EAPC’s Namanga road premises.
Since Friday, over 50 homes, including churches and mosques, have been demolished as a result of a Machakos High Court ruling that declared the occupation of the land illegal.
EPLC won a legal battle to evict squatters from 1,740 hectares of their land in Machakos County after claimants failed to produce documents proving ownership.
