Standoff between NPSC and IG is settled now, CS Kindiki says

The Interior and National administration Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has said the stand off between  Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome and and the National Police Service Commission have been amicably resolved.

While appearing  before the National Assembly Committee on Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee on the mandate of the National Police Service Kindiki says the resolve was met after carefully analyzing the constitution mandate of the two police bodies.

The Inspector General of the National Police Service exercises independent command and control over the Service and performs any other function prescribed by national legislation. 

Kindiki says his office may direct the IG to transfer police officers upon investigation of any offenses or in respect to the stay in an office for at least three(3) years. 

In June, there was a standoff between the NPSC and IG Koome over promotions of at least 500 police officers with both sides issuing opposing directive
