Interior and National administration cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has said the govt will be filling positions left vacant by chiefs and assistants chiefs who were fired or promoted to higher ranks within 90 days
While answering a question by Marsabit, Senator Mohamed Chute Kindiki said the development follows the conclusion of cases in court and the Public Service Commission that had pitted the local leaders with citizens.
“The vacancies are a result of natural attrition, dismissal from service for officers after their cases have been concluded by the Courts or Public Service Commission, and there are no pending appeals before the Courts, promotion of the officeholders to higher offices, resignation and redesignation of the officer holders,” Kindiki told the House.
Kindiki has aversed that there are no pending appeals and by the elapse of 90 days all location and sublocation will have substantive heads.
The ministry has noted that the move is in line with the government commitment to decentralize security from the national government.
Kindiki went on to say that the process of filling vacant positions is governed by the Scheme of Service for Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs, as well as the Service Regulations.
