Kenya, Uganda & TZ granted direct AFCON ticket after winning hosting rights

Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will host the 2027 Africa Cup of nations tournament.

The announcement to have the three East African neighbors organize the continent’s premier football showpiece followed a CAF Exco meeting which also gave Morocco the rights to stage the 2025 finals.

The Pamoja Bid will see East Africa host the tournament for the first time and grant the three direct tickets to participate in the competition.

Kenya is now racing before time to renovate its national stadiums before 2025 by the military

Kenya failed to host the 1996 finals due to lack of infrastructure despite winning the hosting rights. They were replaced by South Africa, who went on to win the tournament.

Regionally, it will be the fifth time the tournament visits Cecafa block after Sudan hosted the inaugural finals in 1957 and again in 1970 while Ethiopia have staged the tournament thrice; 1962, 1968 and 1976.

The three nations had bid along side Algeria, Botswana, and Egypt
