Kenya to know fate of her joint AFCON bid Wednesday as CAF announces hosts

The Kenyan government is crossing its fingers on a bid to host the 2027 continental games alongside Uganda and Tanzania

The Confederation of African Football President Patrice Motsepe is expected to announce the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 and 2027 hosts  Wednesday.

The announcement will be made immediately after a Caf executive meeting at the continental football governing body’s headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

CAF had awarded Guinea the rights to host the 2025 edition of the biannual tournament in October last year but stripped the West African nation of the rights due to lack of adequate infrastructure.

CAF said they had received bids from Algeria, Morocco, and Zambia, plus a co-hosting bid from Benin and Nigeria, for the 2025 finals.

The 2027 finals have gotten bids from Algeria, Botswana, and Egypt and a joint bid from East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania titled ‘Pamoja Bid’.

The East African Nations placed their bids worth four billion shillings each and began making renovations to their stadiums following subsequent disapproval by the governing body in the past.

Kenya has even announced the closure of her National stadiums, Nyayo and Kasarani for renoveations by the military by 2025.
