Operation Linda Jamii wants the national dialogue committee led by non-state actors and not politicians.
The lobby says they will mobilize its members and march to the Bomas of Kenya so they can lead the talks since they demand constitutional change.
“We remain steadfast in restating that the amendment of the constitution of Kenya through a popular initiative is a means of the exercise of direct democracy which can only be exercised by the people of Kenya and not their representatives so as not to convolute the form of democracy at play,” the group stated.
The group, led by Prof Fred Ogola, claims that the talks, if led by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and majority leader Kimani Ichungwah, will be to their benefit and will not address key issues affecting Kenyans.
Ogola revealed that the group has collected signatures to initiate constitutional change aimed at addressing most of the issues to be discussed by the dialogue committee.
The lobby group says its attempts to amend the constitution have been thwarted by the vacuum in the leadership of the IEBC.
According to Linda Jamii, if President William Ruto was genuine in his attempts to solve the issues affecting the country, he should have reach out to non state actors and not politicians
