Senators have concurred with a motion from the national assembly that seeks to entrench the national dialogue committee into law so it can, among other things, make law the senate oversight fund.

The senators have adopted the motion that will see the 10 members dialogue committee and the 8 member technical committee co-opted for the NDC get a legal backing to its deliberations

The lawmakers convened for their special sitting today following a notice by speaker Amason Kingi last week to consider the motion so it can set stage for the bipartisan talks.

The talks led by Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwah for the Kenya Kwanza and his Azimio counterpart Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka drafted the motion to the national assembly where it was adopted and further needed  concurrences from the senate so the findings  could be anchored into law

While moving the motion, Senate Majority leader Aaron Cheruiyot, said its adoption will set the stage for deliberation of the thematic issues whose findings will be submitted to the house within the 60 days.

While seconding the motion the Kilifi senator Stewart Madzayo exuded confidence in the two committees in coming up with solutions on the thematic agenda if not all.

The senators have also regretted the cost implications the talks would incur tax payers, saying that the committee must arrive at along lasting solution

Nominated senator Veronica Maina Flanked with Migori senator Eddie Oketch the leader argue the costs should be shouldered by parties of the talks.
