Senators recalled for a speacial sitting on National Dialogue Committee on Tuesday

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has recalled senators for a special sitting , next week Tuesday to approve the establishment of the National Dialogue Committee.

The Senators who are on recess will be expected to consider a motion by National assembly moved by its majority leader Kimani Ichungwa and seconded by his minority counterpart Opiyo Wandayi that seeks to facilitate dialogue and consensus building and recommend appropriate constitutional, legal and policy reforms on issues of concern Kenyans.

The motion says the 10-member team’s recommendation shall be in line with the Constitution and the laws of Kenya and respecting the functional and institutional integrity of state organs.

Once the Senators concur with the motion, the reports from the committee that officially convenes for the first day today for next  60 days will set stage for the adoption of the recommendation of the national dialogue committee into law.

The committee led by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his ruling coalition counterpart Kimani Ichungwah are expected to  receive agenda items from the technical team co-opted for the national dialogue to harmonize the talking points from both sides.

The technical committee is  also expected to table an enumerated order within which the 10 listed issues for deliberation will be handled.
