Carry your own cross-President Ruto tells those involved in the Finland scholarship saga

President William Ruto has assured parents and students affected by the Finland scholarship saga that their money will be refunded even as police zero in on on suspects.

Addressing a roadside crowd in Eldoret just before he joined the devolution conference delegates, President Ruto said those found culpable or embezzling the funds raised by parents must refund .

The head of state added that it is immoral for leaders of the county to swindle parents their hard earned cash that was meant for education of their children.

“If you embezzled funds meant for students education ,you will not escape. In fact you are embarrassing us” he added.

Police have already arrested former Uasin Gishu county governor Jackson Mandago who was in office when the money was collected from parents.

Senator Mandago was arrested at his residence and whisked away to the DCI regional office in Nakuru.

The senator is among three others in the spotlight over the controversial Finland and Canada Overseas Education Programme.

Also wanted by police are Joseph Kipkemoi Maritim, Meshak Rono and Joshua Kipkemoi Lelei. They are accused of allegedly embezzling millions of shillings collected from Parents whose students were to travel to Finland for studies.
