Kenyans remain stranded over govt systems facing downturns

Train users are the latest to  join the long list of Kenyans affected for the better of the day as system for both government and private business faces major downturns

In a communique to newsrooms the Kenya Railways authority has asked for patience among its customers as they seek to revive their ticketing and booking systems after following a technical hitch.

Similarly, the monopoly  Kenya Power Lighting company has regretted the unfortunate incident in their prepaid option in purchasing power tokens further providing customers with alternatives.

After numerous complaints from Kenyans over the slow running of the E-citizen platform that the government seeks to incorporate all government services, the ICT CS confirmed that the system was under cyber attack.
CS Owalo confirmed that the attackers jammed the system but allayed fears that users data is still intact.

Owalo said such incidents call for the need for continued digitization of services, and should not hinder the country’s progress in adopting advanced technological solutions.

Instead, the focus should be on building a robust risk mitigation framework to ensure sustainable digitalization.

Other private entities whose systems have faced downturn include, Mpesa and  M Shwari ,Mobile banking applications like Equity Bank, KCB Bank, DTB Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Stanbic Bank.

The downturn has exposed the country digitization journey posing several question over the readiness of the country to fully go digital in the ever evolving technological world
