National Prayer Breakfast to have a determinate date

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula says that going to the future, the National Prayer Breakfast will be one of the key events of parliament.

Speaking during the ongoing prayer breakfast held at Safari Park Hotel Nairobi, Wetangula also said that the event will have a determinate date annually.

“As we move on to the future, the National Prayer Breakfast will be held on the last Thursday of May, and will be the key event by Parliament,” he said

This comes after the speaker last week announced that the 20th National Prayer Breakfast had been rescheduled to 7th of June.

The Prayer had initially been scheduled to take place on 31st of May.

Wetangula said the change was occasioned by factors beyond control.

This year’s Prayer Breakfast is themed ‘Reconciliation with God and with Man’.

Hundreds of leaders and guests have gathered at the Safari Park Hotel for this year’s National Prayer Breakfast led by President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

Members of Parliament (MPs), including those from the opposition, are among the leaders in attendance.

The Azimio la Umoja Coalition said in a statement yesterday that its principals led by Mr Raila Odinga will skip the event, but revealed that opposition MPs are free to attend.
