Former Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi has blamed the government for the high cost of living in Kenya.

According to the ex county boss, President William Ruto’s government has set high inflation targets.

In a tweet, Ndiritu said the Kenya Kwanza Government should not be doing this.

“The escalating cost of living is actually the government’s fault… by doing something they should not – setting a high target for inflation, and not doing something they should – short-term support such as removing tax on fuel,” he said.

This comes as the Azimio la Umoja Coalition has been calling on the government to work on lowering the cost of living and basic commodities.

Led by Azimio Chief Raila Odinga, the Coalition has been leading nationwide protests to have their demands met, including the isssue of electoral injustice.

Odinga claims his victory in the 9th of August General Election was stolen in 2022.

Meanwhile, Head of State William Ruto says the government needs more time to lower the cost of living in the country.

“When we took over the government, the price of Unga was Sh230, my government has worked towards lowering it and it’s now at Sh180. Soon the price of unga will be Sh140 and later reduced to Sh120,” he said.

He also told Azimio leaders to accept defeat in last year’s presidential election.
