Learning resumes as the school calendar returns to normalcy

Schools in the country are reopening starting today, with the school calendar returning to normalcy.

According to Education Principal Secretary (PS) Belio Kipsang, term one will run from 23rd of January to 23rd of April, with a three-day half-term break between 23rd and 26th of March. 

Students will be on holiday from 22nd of April to 2nd of May.

“I would want to affirm to the stakeholders in the sector that we have reverted to our normal calendar and our children will be opening schools on Monday,” he said.

Second term will begin on 8th of May and end on 11th of August.

Learners will go on a three-day half-term break, between 29th of June and 2nd of July.

The end of term holiday, will run between 12th and 27th of August.

Third term will begin on 28th of August until 3rd of November.

According to Kipsang, students joining Form One will be admitted on 8th of February.

Meanwhile, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has announced registration dates for candidates who will sit their national examinations in 2023.

According to KNEC CEO David Njengere, the registration period will run from February 1 to March 31.

“Concerning the 2023 KCPE and KCSE exams, the registration of candidates will begin on 1st of February to 31st of March,” he said.

Learners sitting for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), will write their exams between 6th and 9th of November.

Those sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), will do their exams between 10th of November and 1st of December.
