President Ramaphosa in kenya for a 2-day state visit

South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa is in the country on a 2-day state visit.

Ramaphosa is meeting his host President William Ruto at state house Nairobi, just after jetting back into the country from the climate change conference in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.

The talks will center around South Africa’s harsh visa restrictions towards Kenyans even as Ramaphosa seeks to deepen economic, political, cultural, and social relations with Kenya which is the leading economy in the East African region.

This comes as Ramaphosa has called on western nations to deliver a financial package which they promised to help the nation speed up its move away from coal.

He says this follows an announcement made last year that resulted in building hope by providing a model that would end reliance on coal.

As it is, the US, Britain, France, Germany and the European Union pledged a deal valued at $8.5bn , which includes initiatives to help fossil fuel workers move to greener industries.

President Ramaphosa was devastated to find out only 2.7% was grant money, noting the other proportions were loans.
