A security detail attached to Mama Ida Odinga has been shot dead in Kisumu’s Uzima area.
The head of Ida Odinga’s security team David Masaga confirmed the fatal shooting of Barack Onyango Odour.
The deceased was in the company of a woman and one man when he met his death, both of whom were shot in the arm and leg respectively. The assailant is said to be a manager of one of the entertainment clubs in Kisumu and he allegedly took off with the slain officer’s fire arm.
Nyanza Regional Police boss Karanja Muiruri confirmed the incident, saying a probe is underway to establish the circumstances under which the aide was killed.
According to multiple sources, including junior police officers who spoke on condition of anonymity, the bodyguard was shot dead following a dispute.
The injured are admitted at a facility within the lake-side city, while the body of Barack lies at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue.
