President William Ruto will today make his inaugural address at the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, United States.
“Participation at the highest level in the UNGA is particularly important for Kenya as the country seeks to complete the second year of its non-permanent membership to the United Nations Security Council,” read a statement from the ministry of foreign affairs.
The president will also hold bilateral talks with several heads of state and government during the four-day meeting.
This is as he seeks to harness relations with the American Business representatives guided by the 5 pillars bilateral strategic dialogue partnership.
“The Head of State will also attend a working session with senior representatives of the American businesses during which he will urge for increased trade and investment between the two countries.”
President Ruto will then chair a meeting of the Conference of African Heads of State on Climate Crisis in his capacity as the Coordinator of the conference.
The Head of State left the country on Sunday to attend Queen Elizabeth’s funeral on Monday – September 19 in the United Kingdom, before heading to the United States for the UNGA conference.
He was accompanied by the first lady Rachel Ruto, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, and Chief Administrative Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ababu Namwamba among others.
