Kenya’s tennis sensation Angela Okutoyi has arrived back in the country after winning the Wimbledon girls doubles category on Saturday.
Okutoyi became the first Kenyan to win a Wimbledon title as she partnered with Dutch girl Rose Marie Nijkamp.
The unseeded pair beat Canadians Kayla Cross and Victoria Mboko 3-6 6-4 11-9.
Together with her Dutch partner Rose Marie Nijkamp, Okutoyi made it to the Junior Wimbledon Girls’ Doubles finals after the pair defeated the duo of Lucija Bagaric(Croatia) and Nikola Daubnerova (Serbia) 6-3, 6-4 to successfully secure their place in the title decider.
In January the teenage sensation reached the juniors’ third round at the Australian Open and later participated in the Roland Garos.
President Uhuru Kenyatta also congratulated the duo for the fete .
