The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has cleared 38 Independent Presidential Candidates to Present their Nomination Papers for scrutiny.

The publication of the thirty-eight names came after the Registrar of Political Parties said it had a list of forty-seven candidates who had successfully reversed symbols.

The clearance which was announced in a Gazette notice by IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati was published on Friday, but circulated on today.

Among the notable candidates on the list is Nixon Kukubo, Nazlin Omar, Nyagah Jeremiah, Muthiora Kariara and Reuben Kigame.

The candidates must submit the requisite documents on or before Monday, May 23, ahead of the clearance process which will take place between May 29 and June 6, 2022.

The successful aspirants will then be approved by IEBC as candidates to be on the ballot.

IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati stated that prior to the planned registration, returning officers shall hold pre-nomination meetings with aspirants, to brief them on the requirements and procedures for registration of candidates among others.
