Kanu chairman withdraws from Azimio running mate race

Kanu chairman Gideon Moi

Kanu chairman Gideon Moi has withdrawn his Azimio presidential running mate bid, ceding his nomination to Kalonzo Musyoka.

The announcement came as KANU’s party Secretary for Political Affairs Fredrick Okango said they had received instructions that their chairman would not appear for today’s 3pm scheduled interview.

According to Okango, the independence party has already written to the panel stating Moi’s new position.

This comes as the vetting panel, first interviewed Murang’a woman representative Sabina Chege, followed by Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho before Martha Karua and Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya were vetted this afternoon.

Chege expressed confidence in her candidature, claiming to offer support for the presidential candidate, as well as priding herself in her significant expertise in government for the past 10 years.
