Deputy President William Ruto’s Presidential Secretariat will today write to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) over alleged vote rigging remarks made by ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru.

According to the Secretariat there is a plot to rig the 9th of August elections in favor of Azimio Coalition’s Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga.

Speaking on Thursday, Josphat Nanok who heads Ruto’s secretariat placed Mucheru at the center of the alleged plot.

“Of concern to us is the critical role the Ministry of ICT plays in supervising and overseeing the Communication Authority of Kenya,” he said.

“We are now calling out CS Mucheru and his colleagues for their open, flagrant and shameless association and promotion of one political coalition and its presidential candidate.”

UDA Secretary General Veronica Maina says IEBC should question Mucheru for attempting to interfere with elections.

“We want to protest the interference, the undertones, and the innuendos that have been generated by that video – the one that clearly shows that there could be something they are planning behind the scenes,” said Maina.

This is after Mucheru recently spoke during a Nyeri leaders’ meeting alongside Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

“Some of us are there to ensure we have free fair elections making sure systems and everything are working and obviously we are working closely with Baba to ensure that this is the case and we’ve been looking and seeing the information we are on the right track we are on the right path,” said Mucheru.
