Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has appointed former Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju, as the executive director of the Azimio la Umoja secretariat.

In a statement by Odinga’s Spokesperson Dennis Onyango, Tuju’s appointment takes immediate effect.

Onyango says Tuju was considered on grounds of being an accomplished communication specialist, and experience in management of public affairs.

“A communication specialist by training, Hon Tuju has decades of experience in politics and government, having served as member of Parliament, Cabinet Minister and Jubilee Party Secretary General,” read the statement.

As the Executive Director, Tuju will coordinate all member parties of Azimio and will lead the strategic and program teams, that will work to ensure the coalition’s victory in the 9th of August General Election.

“The Azimio Coalition party brings together over 20 political parties with diverse regional strengths, opinions and a myriad of leadership that represent the face of Kenya,”  said Onyango.

Tuju’s appointment comes one month after his resignation as the Jubilee Party Secretary-General, during the party’s National Delegates Convention (NDC) at the KICC.
