NTSA Launches Investigations into the Sunday Webuye Road Accident

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has begun investigations to ascertain the cause of the accident that claimed the lives of eight people along the Eldoret-Kakamega road on Sunday.

A technical team of investigators, inspectors and representatives from the National Police Service are currently conducting the investigations on the accident which saw several others hospitalized.

They say, the scene has been documented to ascertain the cause of the accident and issue appropriate recommendations.

A comprehensive report is being prepared to guide on the necessary actions to be undertaken against the Sacco,” said NTSA in statement.

Lugari OCPD Bernard Ngungu says the Sunday morning accident involved a truck and a 14 seater Matatu.

He notes that the Matatu rammed into the stationary truck at the Musembe area.

The Matatu was heading to Nairobi from Bungoma when it hit the lorry from behind.

The government through NTSA has now urged all motorists to be vigilant while travelling to avert road accidents.

We urge all the motorists to be extra vigilant, cautious, be mindful of other road users as the festivities come to an end and our children resume school.”
